I am doing some preliminary research for a social history project on Bettys Bar in York.
There has been a previous post on this dating from 2009 because it was frequented by many UK, US & Canadian Air Force personnel stationed locally. There is also a mirror on which is inscribed the names of 502 people and I would love to hear from anyone, or their family, who wrote on the mirror or from anyone with any memories of Bettys from that time.
I hope this may trigger a memory or two - please get back to me! Thank you very much for your time.
Being Australian, the service record of your grandfather can be found at the National Archives of Australia.Just search using his service number 420599 and you will find it has been digitised and is available to view on-line.It appears that your grandfather and his crew were posted in to 103 Squadron 9/7/43,where according to his personnel file he flew 25 sorties.
Thank you Howard - yes it was this thread about the mirror that alerted me to this Bombercrew.com Forum - would love to hear from any of the names on the mirror, too!
I also never liked being alone for long and always tried to avoid this situation. That is why I began to actively and constantly communicate with girls on the Internet https://ladadate.com/ladies/caucasian This is especially convenient to do on dating sites now. I like one site because there are a lot of cute young ladies and there is always someone to talk about. Also, you can always arrange a meeting with someone and I think you should try it too.
