I have been tracing my grandfather FS James Rennie (482929) for some time now . On the above date he was involved in a crash in a Blenheim IV YH-P6954 . There is an RAF report on the incident which I would really like to read but I am unable to access . Can anyone help me? Or a link to any known 21 squadron diaries of the same time

Regards Chele

Chele,

Bomber Command Losses 1941 (Chorley) gives the date as 28th July, when 21sqdn Blenheim, crashed at Swanton Morley, after colliding with an 88sqdn machine. P/O  M. Forster and F/Sgt  E.E. Sturgeon were killed, and your grandfather was injured. Best place to start looking, would have been in the 21sqdn ORB (Operations Record Book) but for some strange reason, there is no mention of this accident at all in the book, and no record of your grandfathers crew. I can only suggest, that you email, The Department of Research and Information, at the RAF Museum Hendon, and request a copy of...  AM Form 1180, (Accident Record Card) for the Blenheim concerned, quoting the serial number.

Alan.

I cannot understand, why your grandfather, or his crew, are not mentioned in the ORB at all, and Blenheim P6954, does not appear in the ORB after 10th June 41.
