Don Phillips was awarded an immediate DFM in April 1945 for his actions during a raid on Plauen. He came from Wentworth Creek, Nova Scotia and enlisted in Halifax in 1942. His crew were;
Sgt Winston Bartlett, FE
Sgt F. S. Nuttall, AB
Sgt J. E. Stronoch, Nav
F/Sgt A. W. Read, WOP
Sgt F. J. Goode, Mid Upper Gunner
Sgt J. F. Laufmann, Rear Gunner RCAF
I don't suppose anyone out there knows of the whereabouts of Don Phillips or his family or anyone else with family connections to his crew mates? If by shear chance someone happens to read this and wants to get in touch you can email me on mjc41ukATyahoo.co.uk. I live in hope! B

Barnsley,
Phillips was killed in an accident in Halifax in the summer of 1952. I can tell you he was commissioned and went back into the RCAF
He came on my radar recently researching the loss of his whole Wellington crew at No. 30 OTU in the summer of 1944. His w/op was lifelong friends with one of my 101 Sqn subjects, hence the connection. He was sole survivor as the other lads parachutes all caught fire. One jumped, according to the CoI, without a chute.
Lofty Read was looking for Jim Stronoch some years back: http://www.rafweb.org/Reunion_requests.htm
I can find no obituary for Joe Laufmann. Any idea where he was from?
