Hello

I have just discovered this site after applying for a Bomber Command Clasp.

My late father flew with 51 Squadron then 35 Squadron and his pilot was F/O Bolt-does anyone on this forum have any connections with this crew?

Or does anyone have any connection with 51 Squadron when my dad was based at Snaith from 4/10/1944 until 27/11/1944.Then with 35 Squadron when he was at Graveley from 4/1/1945 until 21/9/1945.

i have his log book and can therefore give quite detailed information of the 'Ops' he flew.

Hello Mark,

I have the ORB's for 35 squadron covering 1945 and find the following carried out by PW Bown.

Contact me via whiteboard if you want copies.

Mark,

The 51sqdn ORB, shows their first op, on 6th Oct to Sterkrade. Although the record shows no posting details for your father, or F/O Bolt, it does show that the other two officers in the crew, were posted in on 1st Oct 44, so i would imagine that this date would also apply to the rest of the crew.

Hello Alan
Thanks for your reply and attachment. I am amazed at the responses and am piecing together so much more information about my Dad.
Strangely from another source I found out that F/O Bolt only died last month and his funeral was on 1st August in New Zealand.
If you have any more copies of ORBs for 51 Squadron at Snaith I would be grateful to have copies.
My email address is visible on my profile. Sorry it took me a while to acknowledge your help but my laptop died just after I posted but am now back on line. Thanks - Mark
