What is known about the 142 Squadron Bomber Command?

Hi Hans,

142 Sqn returned from France in May 1940 after being in the Advanced Air Striking Force and served in Group 1 flying Battles and Wellingtons from various bases in the UK. Detached to 38 Group for parachute training in June and July 1942 but no Ops flown and they returned to Group 1. The main body went to the Middle East in December 1942 and flew Ops until disbanded in October 1944. They re-formed in England as a Mosquito Sqn in 8 Group Light Night Striking Force until the end of the war.

Raids 

1 Gropu Battles 16 bombing

1 Group Wellingtons 132 bombing 32 minelaying 1 leafet.

8 Group Mosquitoes 116 bombing

Losses

1 Group Battles 63 sorties 4 aircraft lost

1 Group Wellingtons 1073 sorties 47 aircraft lost

8 Group Mosquitoes 1095 sorties 2 aircraft lost.
