I'm researching My Uncle who I believed served at RAF Graveley 1943-1945?. His name is 1608854 WO? Patrick Ian Chatteris. He joined up in 1941 so I'm assuming to get to WO so quick he must have been aircrew. Any help would be appreciated.
A quick look over the operational record books for 1943,44,45 of 35 squadron, based at Graveley, does not show P I Chatteris, so unlikely to be aircrewin 35 squadron. He might have been in another unit based there.
My evidence he was at Graveley is this post on a forum

I think I will get some more info on medals Harry. I got the book below some time ago for £2 some where, It belonged to 1608854 W/O Chatteris RAF Gravely. It only shows what medals look like and descriptoins but its interesting,
1946 (first published 1916)
That is his service number I've checked on National archives.
Hi Paul, I have talked to his brother Australia, he knows very little because they lost contact but he does remember he was an Air Gunner on Lancasters. After furthur research I have found a combat report from 207sqn under AIR/50/232. It is difficult to read but 26/27 Aug 1944. The attack from RAF Spilsby was on Konisburg in a Lancaster III. Mid upper gunner P Chatteris. Is it possible to find crew lists for 207sqn?
I can only assume he was posted to Gravely after the war for some reason??

Just an update on what I have found so far, My Uncle 1608854 Sgt Patrick "Paddy" Chatteris was an air gunner on 207 sqn doing 30 ops in 1944. He then pops up in 115 sqn in 1949. He pops up again at RAF Leconfield, Central gunnery school, Aircraft recognition section in 1951. I know he was at Graveley (doing what?) in the 50's as a warrant Officer but then I lose him. I believe he stayed in RAF until late sixties/early seventies.
