Hi, this is my first time posting on this site as I have just found it !!!! I have been trying to find out why my dad received the DFC. I have the ribbon it is on but the medal was lost years ago. No one has any mention of him ever receiving it. I was wondering if anyone can help? His name was Eric Milton McAlister from Australia and he served in 101 squadron and 299 squadron. He also received the DFM but I have a record of that. His service no. was 415170. I have been reading some of the posts and they are really interesting. I have dad's log book and flying records as well as silk maps and many photos but I would love to find out about this DFC mystery.
Here is a start http://en.ww2awards.com/person/42043. It lists your Dad's RAAF career and when the medals were awarded. Then why don't you join the Bomber Command face book group 'Bomber Command crews and aircraft' and post your request there because you will certainly get some replies.
