PFANDER, N. J23647 WAG Info
Permalink

Hello,
Just starting to look into a man I believe to be Norman L. PFANDER.  All I do know at the present is F/O. N.L. PFANDER J23647 WAG. He passed away some time ago in Hamilton/Dundas Ontario. I believe he may have served in 407 Squadron from 1941 onwards. Id love to see a photo of him or know more about him if anyone on here might know or have ORB's from 407 Sqn.
Thank you if you can help,

J23647 Norman Leslie Pfander.

3 photos. 1st showing him graduating Jarvis as Sgt, 2nd promoted to F/O and third with wife and daughter circa 1958.

As he passed 6 September 2003, his service file will not be open until September 2023.

Regards,

Dave

Thanks for the quick reply alieneyes. Amazing the info you available at your fingertips!

I have found that a Ron Pfander (son??) sponsored a brick a the Juno beach centre which reads.

 F/L Norman L. Pfander,

407 "Demon" Squadron RCAF
1941-1946
Battle of North Atlantic

I found it odd that the graduation article stamped from the Spectator is dated Feb 1943. Might have been when it was copied for the family if they never got the original -who knows. I have a uniform jacket of his dated  November 1941 with the WAG brevet on it. The uniform could have been old stock before issued to him, but seems like a long time that it would have been sitting around.

I'll try a contact I have at the Archives to see what 'vetted' information I can get with respect to his enlistment and postings.

Thanks again
