It seems fitting that on the 72nd anniversary of their disappearance that I should mark the occasion of the loss of the Collver crew from 431 squadron with something I wrote 12 years ago. Sadly I  have come to a standstill in terms of new information.

Hi Matt,

 

A very nice write up on this crew, well done. Dr Theo Boiten in his Nachtjagd War Diaries has this aircraft was shot down by Lt Rolf Ebhardt of 8./NJG1 for his 6th victory he would go on to survive the war with a total of 8 victories. The aircraft came down in the sea 25 kms east of Helgoland at 01.37hrs.
