I am looking for any information about F/L Alec Elliott of the 158 Squadron. Alec is my paternal grandfather and I have just been to visit his grave in Hellendoorn, The Netherlands.
I have always known he was shot down over Holland, but did not know anything else about him until April this year. Thanks to this website, I now know a little bit. But I am searching for any other information, particularly trying to locate any relatives.
Please if you have any information to share I would be very greatful. I am hoping to go to the United Kingdom in a couple of years and would love to meet any relative that may be out there.
Halifax NR251 fell to the guns of Ofw. Hans-Eugen von Gienanth, from Stab IV./NJG1. The bomber crashed at 20.15 hrs, between Haarle and Nijverdal in the Eastern Netherlands (ref: Nachtjagd War Diaries vol 2, by Theo Boiten).

Alex was posted to 158 Sqn from 1652 HCU on 3 November 1944. To add to Mike information this was von Gienanth 9th and lsat victory of the war. He did survive the war.
If you contact me off board on harleyDOT158ATbigpondDOTcom replace the DOT & AT with the usual and I'll scan the page from 'In brave company' the history of 158 Sqn in which Alex Elliott was shot down.
