I ave been undertaking investigations into my family history and I came across information this person who is a cousin to me died on the 27 Feb 1943. I have read this was just after to squadron was reformed in Jan 1943. I was wondering if there is any information on how he died, and what were the circumstances. As a start point for you: He was serving with No 166 Squadron and was lost (without trace) in Wellington BJ961 whilst on an operational sortie to Cologne.

Just to add to Mike's message, Oblt Horst Pause did not survive the war being killed on 12/13 March 1943 when he was shot down by Sgt K W M Peters the rear gunner in Stirling BK656 of 15 Sqn his aircraft crashed 21 kms N E of Hertogenbosch with his score at 4 victories.
